These awards celebrate individuals and businesses who make a meaningful impact on the economic growth, quality of life, and collaborative spirit of our Tri-Community. Recipients are honoured each year at our Annual General Meeting in November. Updated criteria will be introduced for 2026, with nominations opening soon.
For 2026, we’re enhancing our awards to offer even greater value. The Citizen of the Year will receive a certificate, a one-year Individual Chamber membership, and a gift card. Business award recipients will receive a certificate, a gift card, and a discount on their next year’s Chamber membership.
Citizen of the Year Criteria
Community Involvement
Active participation in community service, volunteer work, or charitable activities.
Leadership in local projects that benefit the community (e.g., organizing events, improving local facilities, or helping vulnerable populations).
Positive Impact
Makes a significant positive difference in the lives of individuals or groups within the community. Demonstrates a commitment to improving the quality of life for community member.
Exemplary Character
Acts as a role model for others through kindness, integrity, and responsibility. Displays ethical behavior, strong values, and personal sacrifice for the greater good.
Achievements or Contributions
Outstanding personal or professional accomplishments that bring positive recognition to the community. Advocacy for important causes such as education, health, the environment, or social justice.
Leadership and Influence
Inspires and motivates others through their actions and achievements. Plays a leadership role in organizations, initiatives, or movements that drive meaningful change.
Business of the Year Criteria
Economic Impact
Contributes to the local economy by creating jobs, promoting innovation, or driving economic growth. Demonstrates financial stability and growth, especially if the business helps uplift the local economy.
Community Engagement
Supports community events, initiatives, or charitable causes. Encourages employee involvement in volunteer work or local partnerships.
Business Excellence
Demonstrates exceptional service, products, or customer relations. Operates with integrity, high standards of quality, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Innovation and Adaptability
Shows creativity and innovation in business practices, products, or services. Adapts to challenges and emerging trends in a way that strengthens the business and benefits the community.
Sustainability and Ethics
Prioritizes environmentally friendly practices or adopting sustainable business models. Acts as a responsible corporate citizen, ensuring ethical operations and good working conditions.
Local Involvement and Support
Has strong ties to the community, sourcing locally where possible or supporting other local businesses. Fosters a business culture that values diversity, inclusion, and equitable treatment of employees.
